Great News!
All of our equipment is in, is being set up, and we should be opening later this month. Hopefully for a “soft opening” shortly after Valentine’s day, or possibly on it (after we finish at Keller Farmer’s Market). We hope to see those of you local to the DFW area at one of those two places. More information to come after we get the final inspection for our certificate of occupancy.
3D Pens
We’re getting very excited about the 3D pens. Initially, they were going to be “something to do” while kids waited on their models to print. But the more I checked into them, the more I discovered they will be another opportunity for creativity; but of a different kind.
Those using them will be able to make models created fully from their own imagination. But, it also drove up our expenses and expanded our start-up schedule. We decided the extra wait, and the extra expense, were both worth it. The younger makers will have something that is safe for them to operate, while the older kids and the adults will have more powerful pens.
We decided on two different models of pens – the 3Doodler Start+, a pen geared for the 5-8 year old makers. It doesn’t get as hot, and both the pen and the plastic are “touch safe” for that group. Then we stocked up with the 3Doodler Create+, a pen that’s a bit more versatile for those older. (NOTE – the Start+ has been replaced by the Flow 3D Pen; but the Create+ is still included in the Education Pack.
Opening
We hope to have our certificate of occupancy in hand by the end of the week. We are scheduled for Keller Farmer’s Market on the 14, and will be there with a LOT of Valentine’s Day product, as well as the other modes we carry. We are still working out whether we can be ready for a soft opening that afternoon after the market, or if Monday, the 16th will be the day. Stay tuned for more information.
The Delay
While we had hoped for a soft opening in late January, I goofed on some paperwork for our certificate of occupancy (it’s been almost 40 years since last time I opened a business) so that got delayed a bit.
